In a dazzling new collection of original songs, Brazilian percussionist Cyro Baptista reflects on his many travels from rural Brazil to New York City to touring the world with the likes of Sting, Yo-Yo Ma, Paul Simon, and many others.
"While on tour in support of Sting's album "If On A Winters Night", cellist Vincent Segal, bassist Ira Coleman and I found ourselves with a rare day off in NYC.
I decided to put the time to good use in the recording studio and called in percussionist/ngoni player Tim Keiper to collaborate on some of my compositions.
We recorded until the sun came up the next morning... Over the subsequent years, other friends contributed to the recording, helping to flesh out the music. We tweaked and refined... cultivated and harvested... Now it's time for BlueFly to travel ten thousand miles!"
